Darlaston's Scott Minifie wins new Robin Hood TSC League.

A new club, based at the Robin Hood pub at The Crescent, Willenhall has been set up by Mike Bradbury, and landlady patron Alex Murphy. Designed for beginners or older returning players, the eight player league saw Scott Minifie overtake favourite Malcolm Niles at the last month. Meetings are held every month on the 2nd Tuesday from 8pm until 10.30pm. Although only one board is used, all 88 league and cup matches were played off over the 11 month season, which runs from January to Christmas. New players are always welcome, and indeed a further dozen interested casual players took part in the Staffordshire Cup and the Team Cup, which was won by Willenhall, ahead of favourites Walsall and Darlaston. At this level, Mike understands that players will come and go as their interest improves or wanes, and at the end of the first year, three departed but two new names took their places. All new players were given their own teams painted in colours of their choice. Several players gave a good account of themselves against much more experience players in the Staffordshire Cup; Gavin Peach held Mike Murphy to 0-3, and so too did Scott Minifie in the semi final.
