2026-27 Staffordshire Cup
For the past 3 years, the entries have all come from members of the South Staffs, Robin Hood clubs, or members of the public. Which is about how it all started FIFTY-SIX YEARS AGO. The recent format has been 16 players in the 1st round, and when 4 remain in the 3rd round, they are joined by 4 South Staffs club players and thus 5 rounds are still possible. Rounds 1 to 3 are played on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Robin Hood pub, The Crescent, Willenhall WV13, and as ever, it is open to ANYONE from the West Midlands region. Many matches involving novices finish 0-0 and are decided by shots, but hey-ho, this soon gets half the pub gathering around the board to watch it, and then, one or two spectators then have a tryout too. This is the way it was way back in the 1970s, and gives better results than the many meaningless high level Open nights which never do attract new interest. the next meeting is this Tuesday, 8pm, 8th September.
